LVIV PIANO SEXTET in TARNÓW
On 21 February 2026, on the eve of the fourth anniversary of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, we are organising a concert in Tarnów under the honorary patronage of Mr Jakub Kwaśny, Mayor of Tarnów.
The Lviv Piano Sextet will perform Ukrainian and Polish music.
One hundred years ago, Tarnów took in Ukrainian refugees after the Ukrainian People's Republic was destroyed by the Soviet Bolsheviks. The government of the Ukrainian People's Republic, led by Ataman Symon Petlura, operated in Tarnów from late autumn 1920 to 1921. After the defeat of the Ukrainian army in the war with the Bolsheviks and the Treaty of Riga, Tarnów became the temporary centre of political and emigration life for the Ukrainian authorities in exile, often referred to in this context as the ‘capital of Ukraine’.
Today, commemorating these historic events with a concert featuring the Lviv Piano Sextet, we reaffirm the Polish-Ukrainian partnership and good neighbourly relations in the face of the Moscow threat.
