Alexei Retinsky

He is a creator of symphonic, chamber and electronic music, as well as theater, installation and performance music.
ALEXEI RETINSKY was born in 1986 in Simferopol, Crimea. Retinsky began his studies on wind instruments. He graduated from the Music School in Simferopol, mastering the oboe, saxophone and trumpet. At the same time, he began studying composition on his own. He later studied composition and electroacoustic composition at the Kiev Academy of Music and the Zurich University of the Arts (under Prof. Bruno Karrer and Prof. Germán Toro-Perez).
In 2013-2014 he worked in the field of composition and audio design at the “Idee und Klang” sound studio in Basel. He completed postgraduate studies with Prof. Beat Furrer at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz. Since 2014, he has lived and worked in Vienna. Retinsky’s oeuvre is wide-ranging – he is a composer of symphonic, chamber and electronic music, as well as theater, installation and performance music. His works have been performed in many countries with conductor Vladimir Jurowski, the State Symphony Orchestra of Russia, the Webern-Ensemble (Vienna), the Collegium String Quartet, among others.
