The A Cappella Leopolis ensemble was founded in 2002 and consists, depending on the program, of 8-16 singers.

The A Cappella Leopolis ensemble was founded in 2002 and consists, depending on the program, of 8-16 singers. Performing music of various eras (from the Middle Ages to Classicism), the ensemble strives to realize ancient vocal practices as perfectly as possible. The ensemble’s artistic director and conductor is Ludmyla Kapustina.

Members of the ensemble participated in master classes of the Dutch foundation “La Pellegrina” (2001), Michael Pospišil (2002, 2003, 2004), Tetiana Polt-Lucenko (2004), Bohdan Shved (2005), Tadeusz Czechak (2004, 2007). The ensemble participated in the Old Town Early Music Festival (2003-2007), the Early Music Festival in Lviv (2003-2007), the concert series “Music at the Courts of Europe” (Krakow, 2005) and “Music at the Palace of Bishop Erazm Ciołek” (Krakow, 2007), in the 10th International Youth Music Forum and GogolFest in Kyiv (2007), in the 4th Early Music Festival “Musica Sacra” (Szczecin, 2007), in the Fest der Innenhöfe & Museumsnächte (Freiburg, 2007); collaborated with the ensembles “Ritornello” (Prague), “Decameron” (Warsaw), “Ortino Musicale” and “Ars Leonis Basel” (Basel), “Consortium Sedinum” (Szczecin), with conductors Bohdan Shved and Paweł Osuchowski, with soloists from Poland, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Ukraine. In 2002-2007, programs of Gregorian chant and medieval songs, programs of church music by Schütz, Monteverdi, Mozart and Polish composers vv. XVI-XIX, opera music by Bortniansky, programs of Ukrainian church and secular music vv. XVII-XVIII, including 12-voice anonyms of the first half of v. XVIII. In 2006, the last program was recorded on the CD “Side Adam priamo Raja” (UkrMusic, 2007). The ensemble participated in the recording of the CD “Music of old Lviv” (Atlantic Records, 2006), the CD of the series “Musica Claromontana: Jasna Góra Early Music” (DUX, 2008). The ensemble has performed several times at early music festivals and other concerts in Poland.
