The ” Kyiv Camerata” ensemble was founded in 1977 by prominent pianist Valery Matiuchin. The ensemble was inspired by the need to perform newly created Ukrainian works by composers affiliated with the Union of Composers of Ukraine. For a long time “Kyiv Camerata” was a kind of laboratory of Ukrainian contemporary music. The ensemble premiered many works by Ukrainian composers – Yevhen Stankovych, Valentin Silvestrov, Ivan Karabits, Oleh Kyva and others. In 1993, the ensemble was granted state status. For its long-standing contribution to the development and promotion of Ukrainian musical culture, “Kyiv Camerata” was awarded the Mykola Lysenko State Prize in 1997. In 2000, the ensemble was granted National status. The “Kyiv Camerata” Soloist Ensemble consists of outstanding musicians, most of them winners of international and Ukrainian music competitions. They perform in various ensembles from the most intimate duets to a small symphony orchestra, which accounts for the ensemble’s very extensive repertoire. The ensemble has a number of archival recordings for Ukrainian radio and television, as well as a significant record output. It is a regular participant in the most important music festivals of Ukraine. “Kyiv Camerata” has held numerous concert tours in Germany, Austria, France, USA, China, Poland, Greece, Russia, the Baltic States, Armenia, Georgia.
