OLEG BEZBORODKO (b. 1973), Ukrainian pianist and composer. His works have been performed all over the world: from the United States to China. He studied in Ukraine and Switzerland. He graduated from the Ukrainian National Academy of Music in Kyiv, where he is currently a professor of piano. His music has been performed by the “musikFabrik” ensemble, pianists Stephen Gutman, Roglit Ishay, Timothy Hoft, violinists Dmytro Tkachenko, Orest Smovzh and Loussine Azizian, mandolinist Olena Olenchyk, among others.
Both as a pianist and composer, he has worked with almost all Ukrainian orchestras and conductors – Hobart Earle, Roman Kofman, Kirill Karabits, Bogodar Kotorovych, Volodymyr Sirenko. He has won national and international piano competitions, as well as scholarships and Ukrainian music prizes – the L. Revutsky and M. Lysenko awards. He has performed and premiered piano and chamber works by almost all leading Ukrainian contemporary composers. In 2020, Naxos Records released the premiere recording of Valentin Silvestrov’s Piano Concerto performed by Oleg Bezborodko with the Lithuanian National Orchestra conducted by Christopher Lyndon-Gee. For the 2019-2020 season, Mr. Bezborodko served as composer-in-residence with the Odessa National Philharmonic Orchestra.
