Concerts in Kyiv and Minsk in May 2017

CONCERTS

The Pro Musica Viva Foundation, in cooperation with the Polish Institute in Kyiv and the Polish Institute in Minsk, organised concerts featuring the "Kyiv Soloists" Chamber Ensemble under the direction of Roman Rewakowicz. The soloist was accordionist Klaudiusz Baran. The concerts took place on 16 May 2017 at the Concert Hall of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine in Kyiv and on 18 May 2017 at the Concert Hall of the State Academy of Music of Belarus in Minsk. The repertoire included already classic Polish works by Grazyna Bacewicz and Mieczyslaw Karlowicz, as well as premieres of new works for accordion and string orchestra by Ukrainian composer Oleksandr Shymko and Belarusian composer Dmitry Lybin. The concerts were co-financed by the City of Warsaw.

- Oleksandr Szymko – LIVINLIV for accordion and string orchestra (2017 - world premiere)
- Dmitry Lybin – Breath of Autumn for accordion and string orchestra (2017 - world premiere)
- Mieczysław Karłowicz – Serenade for string orchestra, op. 2 (1897)
