Wojciech Kilar – 80th birth anniversary

Wojciech Kilar was born in Lviv on 17 July 1932 - in 2012 we celebrated the 80th anniversary of his birth. In connection with this jubilee of an outstanding Polish composer, the 'Pro Musica Viva' Foundation, continuing its long-standing efforts to build Polish-Ukrainian 'musical bridges', organised 3 concerts in Ukraine - in Ivano-Frankivsk, Uzhhorod and Lviv.

In each of these cities, the Foundation's partners in organising the concerts were the local Philharmonics. Polish and Ukrainian performers took part in the concerts. The repertoire of the concerts was filled with very attractive works by Wojciech Kilar, including 'Orawa', the Second Piano Concerto (premiered in October 2011) and 'Te Deum' for soloists, choir and orchestra.
