The Chamber Ensemble “Kyiv Soloists” was founded in 1996 by the outstanding Ukrainian violinist Bohodar Kotorovych

The “Kyiv Soloists” Chamber Ensemble was founded in 1996 by the distinguished Ukrainian violinist Bohodar Kotorovych (1941-2009), a professor at the National Academy of Music of Ukraine. Under his artistic direction, it quickly reached a high artistic level, placing it today among the best chamber ensembles in Ukraine.

The ensemble includes outstanding instrumentalists – young talented musicians, winners of national and international music competitions, many of them alumni of Prof. Bohodar Kotorovich. This string chamber orchestra has a wide repertoire, in which a significant place is devoted to Ukrainian contemporary music. Many works were written with this ensemble in mind. During its several-year history, the “Kyiv Soloists” have held a number of concerts in Ukraine and abroad. The ensemble has performed at the Luxembourg Palace and the UNESCO Palace in Paris, the Comédie Opera in Berlin, the “Flagey” Concert Hall in Brussels, the RadioKulturhaus and the Lichtenstein Palace in Vienna, the “Esplanade” Concert Hall in Singapore and the “World Exhibition” in Japan. He has participated in many international festivals – the 43rd “Warsaw Autumn” Festival, the 12th L. v. Beethoven Easter Festival in Warsaw, the Oistrakh Festival in Pärnu. Oistrakh in Pärnu (Estonia), the “Music of Cracow Composers” Festival, “Classical Music” in Rurh (Germany), the International Festival of Symphonic Music in Algeria, as well as Ukrainian festivals – “Musical Premieres of the Season” in Kyiv, “Kyiv Music Fest”, “GOGOLFEST” and others. The “Kyiv Soloists” ensemble has worked with conductors Volodymyr Sirenko (Ukraine), Saulius Sondeckis (Lithuania), Kyril Karbits (Ukraine-UK), Dmytri Yablonski (USA), Roman Rewakowicz (Poland), as well as many Ukrainian and foreign soloists: V. Papyan (piano, Israel), S. Retie (flute, France), I. Chetuyev (piano, Ukraine), N. Grubert (piano, Netherlands), G. Hofman (cello, USA), K.M. Mehner (piano, Spain), J. Milkis (clarinet, USA), M. Petuhov (piano, Russia), U. Uliona (viola, Lithuania), D. Severin (cello, Switzerland), D. Ashkenazi (clarinet, Switzerland). The orchestra has made numerous recordings for CDs, as well as for Ukrainian radio and television. For its active work in promoting Ukrainian culture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine awarded the “Kyiv Soloists” Ensemble the title “Ambassador of Ukrainian Culture in the World.” By decree of the President of Ukraine, the ensemble received the status of “National Chamber Ensemble.”
