The Chamber Orchestra of the Khmelnytsky Philharmonic was founded in 1992. Founded by conductor Sergey Leonov, it brought together experienced musicians and talented young musicians.

The Chamber Orchestra of the Khmelnytsky Philharmonic was established in 1992. Founded by conductor Sergey Leonov, it brought together experienced musicians and talented musical youth. Since 2008, the orchestra has been led by Oleksandr Drahan, a graduate of the M. Lysenko Music Academy in Lviv in the conducting class of prominent Ukrainian conductor Yuriy Lutsiv. Under the direction of Oleksandr Drahan, the ensemble performs various concert programs devoted to both classical and contemporary music, with a special focus on Ukrainian music.

The orchestra’s repertoire includes works by А. Vivaldi, J. S. Bach, H. Purcell, W. А. Motzart, G. F. Handel, К. Saint-Saens, G. Bizet, P. Tchaikovsky, D. Bortniansky, М. Berezovsky, В. Barvinsky, V. Kosenko, М. Skoryk, Y. Stankovych, I. Karabits, V. Hubarenko, V. Zubytsky, О. Kozarenko, M. Balema, Y. Laniuk, V. Kaminsky and others. The Chamber Orchestra of the Khmelnytsky Philharmonic actively participates in the cultural life of not only its city. The chamber composition of the ensemble allows it to be highly mobile. The orchestra has given concerts in various regions of Ukraine – in Vinnitsa, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Zhytomyr, Rivne, as well as in Crimea. In 2009, the ensemble won an award at the All-Ukrainian Chamber Orchestra Competition “Prime-Orchestra – 2009”. It has repeatedly performed at important music festivals in Ukraine – the “Kyiv Music Fest” in Kiev, the “Contrasts” International Festival of Contemporary Music in Lviv, “Two Days and Two Nights” in Odessa, “Bukovinsky November” in Chernivtsi, the A. Kos-Anatolsky Festival in Kolomyia and others. The orchestra is a regular participant in the “Khmelnytsky Kamer-Fest” festival in Khmelnytsky. The ensemble has participated in music festivals abroad in Ukraine – the International Festival “Klaipedos musikos pavasanis” in Klaipeda, Lithuania, the “Days of Music by Krakow Composers” in Krakow, the “Found Music” Festival in Tarnow, festivals in Krosno and Sosnowiec. In 2012, it released a CD entitled “Young Mendelssohn,” featuring Polish musicians Henryk Blazej and Teresa Kaban. In March 2014, in cooperation with the Warsaw-based “Pro Musica Viva” Foundation, the orchestra under the direction of Roman Rewakowicz carried out a project entitled “Polish-Ukrainian Musical Dialogues. “Polish-Ukrainian Musical Dialogues” giving concerts in six cities of western and central Ukraine. The repertoire of the concerts included outstanding works of Polish and Ukrainian chamber music – works by Grazyna Bacevich, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Wojciech Kilar, Valentin Silvestrov, Igor Shcherbakov and Myroslav Skoryk.
